United Arab Emirates The Emirati Dirham (AED) is the official currency of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and is managed by the Central Bank of the UAE. Introduced in 1973, the Dirham replaced the Qatari and Dubai riyals and has since been a stable currency, pegged to the US dollar at a fixed exchange rate of approximately 3.67 AED to 1 USD. The UAE, known for its strong economy driven by oil, tourism, real estate, and financial services, relies on the Dirham for both domestic and international transactions.
