ZMW - Zambian Kwacha currency

The Zambian Kwacha (ZMW) is the official currency of Zambia, issued by the Bank of Zambia. The current version of the kwacha was introduced in 2013, replacing the old ZMK at a rate of 1,000 old kwacha = 1 new kwacha (ZMW). The currency is subdivided into 100 ngwee, though small denominations are rarely used due to inflation. Banknotes are available in denominations from ZMW 2 to ZMW 100, while coins range from 5 ngwee to ZMW 1. Zambia’s economy is heavily reliant on copper exports, making the kwacha susceptible to global commodity price fluctuations.
