Banks make use of various kinds of unique alphanumeric codes. IFSC code is one of them, and it stands for Indian Financial System Code.
The IFSC code is a unique alphanumeric code of eleven digits. This code is usually found on the leaves of your cheque book or on other materials provided by your bank. This code is also used to identify the branch of the bank where an individual holds his or her account(s).
Furthermore, these codes are also used in transferring money through NEFT (National Electronic
Funds Transfer), IMPS (Immediate Payment Service) and RTGS (Real-Time Gross Settlement)
transfers.
If a person does not remember his or her bank’s IFSC codes,
it is not a problem anymore. The IFSC code of the branch or the bank can be
easily found out by using various websites, which offer such services. All a person is required
to do is to input various details, such as the name and address of the bank, and they will be
able to look up the bank’s IFSC code.
IFSC code is
an eleven-digit number and helps various kinds of money transfer systems to locate the branch
of the account holder, thereby allowing for a seamless bank transfer.
