CUC - Cuban Convertible Peso currency

The Cuban Convertible Peso (CUC) was one of Cuba’s two official currencies, alongside the Cuban Peso (CUP), until it was phased out in 2021. Introduced in 1994, the CUC was pegged to the US dollar and was primarily used for tourism and foreign trade, while locals mostly used the CUP. Due to its artificial valuation and government control, the currency faced economic challenges, leading to its eventual elimination in Cuba’s monetary unification process.
