Uniswap flag Uniswap

Uniswap (UNI) is a decentralized cryptocurrency and governance token for the Uniswap protocol, a leading decentralized exchange (DEX) built on the Ethereum blockchain. Launched in 2020, UNI allows holders to participate in governance decisions, such as protocol upgrades and fee structures. Unlike traditional fiat currencies, UNI is not controlled by any central bank; instead, it operates within the Uniswap ecosystem, enabling decentralized and permissionless trading of Ethereum-based tokens. As part of the DeFi (Decentralized Finance) movement, Uniswap provides liquidity through automated market-making (AMM), removing the need for traditional financial intermediaries. UNI is widely traded on cryptocurrency exchanges and is used by investors, traders, and developers within the DeFi space.
