Expats have a new favourite destination as per HSBC’s Expat 2019 Global Report, and it’s not Singapore, which has held the top spot for the last four years!
This year’s expat survey conducted by HSBC saw Switzerland outranking Singapore as the best place in the world to live and work for expats, thanks to better pay and swift career progression.
While Switzerland has been on the list of top 10 expat destinations since 2011, it jumped 7 places up to secure the top position this year.
This year’s report gathers data from 18,059 overseas workers in 163 locations. Switzerland ranked high in quality of life, with 70% of expats based there saying it had a better natural environment than their home countries.
The survey categorises its findings into three sub-categories: quality of life, career opportunity and family life. Here is the list of the top 10 countries for expats in 2019. You can also see how these countries fare in terms of financial stability and wellbeing (Refer to infographic below).
